How old are babies: 13.5 months
How much do they weigh: E ~23 lbs. C ~20 lbs.
How long are they: ??
Clothes: Charlotte fits comfortably in 12-18 months but Ellie is definitely fitting better in the 18 month range.
Diapers: Size 3 during the day; size 4 at night.
What are they eating: We're officially done with formula. It's so strange to go to Target and not go down the formula aisle. I think the picky phase is beginning. They LOVE fruits, pasta, bread, and carbs in general. The don't really love veggies right now. I find myself hiding veggies in with other foods so they'll at least get some in their systems. I've been buying these frozen veggie/pasta meals that can be steamed in the microwave. The girls love them and they do have traces of veggies, so that's a positive. Breakfast is clearly their favorite meal of the day. Yesterday they ate: 1.5 eggs, a banana, cheerios, toast, cottage cheese, milk.... each. They also have milk with dinner and before bed and sip on water throughout the day. They use their Tommy Tippy sippy cups mostly, but like the straw sippies a lot too. Eating out is becoming more of a challenge. As long as they are fed constantly, they're usually pretty good. It's tough to keep everything out of their reach though. They are quite handsy these days. Typical day:
- 8:00 am breakfast: egg, waffle or pancake, banana, milk
- 12:00 pm lunch: turkey or chicken, steamed veggie, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, apple, water
- 3:00 pm snack: cottage cheese, cheerios, apple, water
- 6:00 pm dinner: turkey or chicken, pasta, veggie, bread, milk
- 8:00 pm bedtime: milk
How are they sleeping: Ever since we tried the CIO method, they've been sleeping like.... babies. They go down around 8:00 and sleep straight through the night. Charlotte is a bit more restless than Ellie and wakes up a couple times a night, but I think it's because she is cutting 3 molars at the moment. This poor baby and all her teeth! For those counting, this brings the toll up to 9 teeth and 3 more nearly broken through.
Milestones: My big girls are just days away from walking! They each take up to about 6-7steps on their own at a time. I actually think Ellie is a little more confident in her walking than Charlotte. They both love to fall into someone's arms. It's almost as if they're walking just so they can fall. I love it. I'm actually- surprisingly- okay with this milestone. I'm even a little excited by the prospect of them holding my hand and walking. I've had this image of walking with my girls, each holding one hand and it brings me such joy to think of it coming true soon.
Major events: Uncle Andy is officially home! I am so excited to see the girls interact with him. And I'm so excited for him to watch them grow. He arrived in Columbus last week and is staying with my parents until he closes on his new house in a couple weeks. I can't imagine how happy my mom must be right now! The girls went trick-or-treating for the first time! Which really meant we bundled them up in four layers of clothes, shoved them into their wagon with a giant blanket on top and an umbrella covering them, then we walked to one neighbor's house and went to my parents for dinner. The weather was seriously miserable. It was cold and rainy and just awful. Thankfully the weekend prior, we took the girls to a Halloween event at Nationwide so we were able to show off their costumes indoors. As if we didn't get enough attention having twins, but having twins dressed as a cookie and milk?! Uh yeah. Mental note: That's too much. We had random strangers coming up and taking their pictures. Every. single. person that walked by commented on their costumes. Don't get me wrong, I was very flattered by the positive response and proud of myself for their costumes, but it really was too much. I couldn't handle all the stares, and comments, and randomness. It put me on high-alert for weirdos, I'll tell you that much.
Appearances: Their hair continues to grow like crazy and Charlotte's is definitely of the curly variety. She loves to play with it while she eats to get it nice and crusty by the end of a meal. You can also tell when she's sleepy bc her new tell is to play with her little curls. Ellie's is so long you can almost tuck it all behind her ears. A bow is an absolutely necessity these days so you can see her beautiful blue eyes.
Personalities: I cannot believe how much they can do and how smart they are becoming. Both girls now say "get down" to the cats. Of course, they dont actually say those words, it sounds more like "ti tow" but you can certainly tell what they're trying to say! They both love to be chased and tickled and I actually have a physical reaction to the sound of their laughs.
Mom and Dad update: Work has been trying for us both lately. I just got back from a board meeting in Sonoma, CA. It was a ton of work and really still isn't over. Now that I'm home I need to work on the expense reports and reviewing the master account and it's already time to begin planning our Spring meeting. I really enjoy this sort of stuff, but sometimes wish it was my sole focus at work instead of splitting my time with other tasks. Chris just celebrated the big 3-0. We had a great day together and went to see a basketball game and the new James Bond movie. Then we went and grabbed some dinner. I love spending time together. It's so crazy to think that this is the 11th birthday we've spent together. Time really will not slow down...
